Faith is often used as a wedge to divide communities against themselves and to ostracize LGBT people. Not only can we not allow this divisiveness to continue, but at Fair Wisconsin we believe that people of faith play a critical role in educating about the harms of discrimination and building inclusive communities for all people, including LGBT people and their families.
To learn more about how Fair Wisconsin is working to engage faith communities in ongoing dialogue about the importance of welcoming LGBT people and actively supporting LGBT equality, head over to our Faith Task Force page.
If you’re looking for more resources about how to support LGBT equality through your spiritual journey, we’ve curated a list of resources for you.
Our friends at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force have published a terrific tool kit for people to use in building a welcoming congregation: “Building an Inclusive Church: A Welcoming Toolkit.” For more information about the Task Force’s faith programming, check out their Institute for Welcoming Resources.
If you are looking for resources for a specific denomination, or to find a welcoming congregation in your area, you can contact Auston McLain, who leads our Faith Task Force. His email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
